Medicine Man from Eat Pray and Love

Most recently Eat Pray and Love contacts
I was talking to a woman in the restaurant who had just finished an 11 day tour of Bali and she wanted to know if there was anything left to do. I asked her if she would like to go to the medicine man in Eat Pray and Love (she told me that book brought her to Bali). So we went to Wayan and asked her where Lier, the medicine man lives and could we go see him. Not a long drive and when we arrived in his family compound he was sitting cross-legged making a charm to ward off evil for his new niece. He is short some teeth which gives him a wonderful smile and smile is what he does. Kind of that Dalai Lama happiness with his t-shirt and sarong and cute old feet sticking out. He does palm reading and body reading for healings …we went with door number 1…read my palm.
So here’s what he covered…my age, no I must be lying cuz there is no way I am 60…when I would die (100)…my future residence at 101…heaven. It went on from there…seems I’m a very very good woman...please note 2 verys. And my karma is Good, very good. I made a change in my life(noted by the jump to another line) and that’s now the travel line which I will continue to do & come back to Bali. I am protected when I travel and I like to learn about other people. And as if I wasn’t feeling cocky enough…I am smart, can do well in business and also creative. (I cannot fly through the air though) He said I am a happy woman and can marry if I like…there’s a line for that too. Joe and Dan are on my palm. So, though he said he would tell us if there was something bad…I kind of got the feeling that he is a very sweet old man who likes to give good news. I can’t remember what he told Elizabeth in the book except that she would come back to Bali and she would marry.??? It was very very nice sitting with him having him hold my hand. He has jolly eyes and must be the best palm reader ever! He had some amazing drawings. He has us turn and he figured out what is guarding us. I’ve got the elephant god.
(Oh,in keeping with my reading marathon here just read Mona in the promised Land by Gish Jen, great book)
